New Desktop Computer HP a6857c

So I just recently purchased a Desktop Computer to replace some of the duties which my laptop was currently handling such as word processing. The new computer I purchased is an HP a6857c. So far I am loving it. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz. Has 8 GB of ram and utilizes the 64-bit version of Vista Home Premium. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Vista but I am quite surprised out how nice it has been. Other than a few compatibility issues with some older devices I own I have no complaints. The greatest aspect of my computer though has to be the HP w2339h monitor. 23" display in full 1080p with VGI and HDMI inputs and built in speakers. It is a beautiful sight. Another plus with this HP desktop is the chassis which has plenty of room for extra goodies like maybe a Blue ray disc player and writer or another hard drive with a 1 TB of storage? Who knows only time will tell. I do plan on making this an awesome computer. Oh and the price was about $939.99 which includes tax so was a pretty good deal. Plus I've had very little problems with HP's technical support. It helps being able to understand Indian accents but I'm pretty good at it. Yeah so basically I love my computer and if you don't hear from me for a long time it is most likely I'm behind it enjoying it's soft glow upon my face.

Garmin Oregon 400t

So I recently purchased a Garmin Oregon 400t and I must say that I am absolutely loving it. Not only is it a great gps but it makes geocaching very easy. Before the Oregon I would have to use a piece of software to convert my gpx file which contained all of the caches I wanted and then send them to my gps. But now I only have to place the gpx file onto the Oregon and it is able to read it without having to use any software. Not only does it make adding caches easier it also provides you with the cache description, hint, and ratings making geocaching completely paperless. The Oregon has many other features which make it perfect for geocaching but I will stop here for now and finish my review in second installment as typing on my phone is getting tiresome.

Daylight Savings Time Headache

A few people for some reason have been experiencing problems with their computers not updating to the new time after the DST transition on March 8th. The worst part however is the fact that Microsoft has not addressed this problem. But has left it to their users to surf the internet for solutions on message boards, forums, and elsewhere. At first I was not annoyed with the fact that my computer's time was an hour behind but when I realized that because my computer's time was incorrect it was affecting the appointment book on my phone which is synced with Outlook 2003's calender. The affect this had on my appointments was frustrating as it advanced their starting times by 1 hour into the future. I then went on a quest to solve the problem.

After searching for a short while I came upon a message board where a few users had been experiencing the same problem as myself. One user said that they had fix the problem by installing KB955839. I tried this but my computer said it was already installed. I figured that perhaps my version of KB955839 might be corrupted. So I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall. Upon reinstalling KB955839 my computer immediately jumped to the correct time. I then ran Time Zone Daylight Savings Update Mode for Outlook 2003 and synced my phone up. I found my appointments were restored to the correct time and everything was perfect. Below I have provided links which will help you to fix this problem on your own computer and Windows Mobile Device.

Digital Transition Delay

Today the House voted for the delay in the transition to digital tv. This is a mistake. As it will be us the tax payers that will be paying for this delay. I am very dissapointed with congress as they say that they are looking out for the five percent of Americans who have not purchased a DTV converter but in reality that can't be the case as why what would make a House Representative care about such a small portion of America? Obviously not the possibility of looking good to potential voters as five percent is a very small amount therefore it must be because of lobbyists which seems very likely as a GOP representative made mention of this during debates this afternoon. This news startled me and has urge me to look into this matter further. Therefore once I have more information I will make it available on my blog. For now I'm just going to rant to myself and go to class. Have a great day and God bless.
